Broadcast Spreaders vs. Drop Spreaders
When considering which spreader you will purchase it is important to understand the difference between a Drop Spreader and a Broadcast Spreader:
Direct Drop Spreaders:
The lever on the handle opens and closes a slot across the entire bottom of the spreader and the sand / salt will drop directly to the ground. Drop Spreaders usually offer more control over where the material is dropped, this may be helpful if you wish to salt narrow paths and do not want the salt to get into the surrounding underlying lawn / plants.
Broadcast Spreaders:
In a Broadcast Spreader, the lever controls an opening that drops material onto a disc that is engaged to the wheel axle via gears, this disc is spun to distribute the material over a wide area, allowing larger paths to be covered in a single pass.

All SnowEx Walk-Behind Spreaders feature a powder coated steel or stainless steel frame, and safety yellow poly hopper. Four models are available:
